Come to Falvey Hall on October 15 at 7:00 pm to listen to Okwui Enwezor talk about his work as director of the 7th Gwangju Biennale. Mr. Enwezor is a pioneer of curatorial reflection on issues regarding cultural production in Africa, Asia and South America. Born and raised in Nigeria, he is well versed in the peculiar dynamics of modernity in these regions and has a record of exhibitions that manifests an interest in rethinking the canon of art from a global and political perspective. Mr. Enwezor is also known for his work as Artistic Director of Documenta 11, Kassel, Germany (1998-2002), the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale (1996-1997), the Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporaneo in Seville (2007) and the current Gwangju Biennial (2008).
