*EDITED
Thanksgiving Break is upon us, and though some of you are traveling, and some are sticking around to hang with friends, all of you should take a day or two off to relax, recoup, sleep, and plan for the end of your semester.
For those of you sticking around for part or all of the break, building hours for the break will be as follows:
Dolphin is open all day Wednesday until 7 PM.
Dolphin will be closed all of Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Dolphin reopens on Sunday at noon.
These are campus-wide hours for break, and the building will be deadbolted. Please plan for your time accordingly, and take anything you might want to work on over the break home with you on Wednesday.
Whether or not you are traveling, please have a great break.

And, naturally, here’s a Tom Turkey from the 1932 Macy’s Parade to help ring in the holiday!
* ALSO: Printer hours will return on Monday!

See you there!

Dear Students,
For those of you who were waiting for Nick to arrive in class today, he was delayed due to a bicycle accident. He is currently being hospitalized for his injuries, which were substantial but not life-threatening. We are awaiting news regarding his condition.
All of his classes will be covered by the department faculty for the next two weeks and through Thanksgiving. Please continue to attend your classes and arrive on time.
If you want to send well-wishes for a speedy recovery to Nick, you can drop them off at the Department Office or via email at printmaking@mica.edu.
best, g
*UPDATE*
Nick is home and recovering with family.
This Saturday night, Open Space Baltimore has an opening for their latest group show, Ordinary Spectacles.
Open Space was founded and is managed by recent MICA Graduates, many of whom were closely connected to the Printmaking Department. Additionally, our very own Printmaking alumna, Erica Prince, who has been doing well in her own right (sorry, no direct link to New American Paintings), is part of the show.

The exhibition will feature work by
Gideon Chase,
Steve Keene,
Andrew Kirk,
Erica Prince,
and David Ubias.
It opens Saturday, Nov. 14th, 7-10 PM, and hangs through December 5.

TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!! TONIGHT!!!
This Wednesday, the Baltimore Contemporary Museum and the MICA Art History, Theory, & Criticism Dept. are teaming up to bring Carlos Basualdo, curator of Contemporary Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (yeah THAT one), will be lecturing on Bruce Nauman’s Topological Gardens, the Golden Lion winner from this year’s Venice Biennale.

Venice Students – YOU SAW THIS – YOU WERE THERE! Come hear the rest of the story!
Everyone else – This was awesome and I am 100% sure that the lecture will be more than fabulous.
The lecture is free to all MICA Students, and is in Falvey, Wednesday the 11th, at 7 PM. BE THERE!

With all this Print Fair excitement, I forgot to mention that TONIGHT is a screening of TYPEFACE, the documentary about the Hamilton Type Foundry (and now Museum) in Two Rivers, WI.
This will be excellent, and should not be missed if you are remotely interested in the printed word, letterpress, wood type, graphic design, and anything in between!

The screening is TONIGHT (That’s Monday, Nov. 9th) at 7 PM in Falvey Hall.
The Director, Justine Nagan will be presenting it an answering questions.
It is FREE to MICA folk.
You’ll regret it if you miss it.
Boy, if you missed out on the NYC IFPDA and E/AB Print Fairs this weekend, you really missed out. The weather was fantastic, the crowds were easily managed, the print work was far reaching, numerous, and completely accessible. I genuinely hope you made it up.
Our friends at Printeresting, who had their own event this weekend, wrote up a really fabulous review of the two fairs – and rather than me repeating them, I’ll just send you there.

The photo above was taken during the department’s private tour of the Dieu Donne Papermill. Thanks again Kat!
