New York Print Week

Department — faculty @ 10:56 am, Saturday, September 24th, 2011

This year’s Print Week in New York takes place in early November.

The department is planning a weekend trip to the IFPDA Print Fair and the Editions|Artists Books Fair. We will subsidize bus fare for printmaking majors, and faculty will be there to help you navigate the venues. Keep an eye on this space for details!

Even if you can’t make the weekend trip, everyone should travel to New York for the many affiliated exhibitions, which run through the fall.

Open Paper Studio

Department — printmaking @ 7:23 pm, Saturday, September 10th, 2011

This semester’s Open Paper Studio will begin on Sunday, September 18th.  The hours have changed this year, and will now be from 12pm-5pm.

Remember, only those students who have taken the paper-making class or those that have spoken with Gail for permission may work during open studio.  For those who plan to attend, please contact Eleni Giorgos (egiorgos@mica.edu) at least one week before you plan to attend open studio to coordinate and prepare the fiber that you will be working with. There will be no beater operation during open studio time.

Please remember that there is a $20 lab fee for those students interested in working in the studio and using the available supplies (within reason) throughout the ENTIRE semester.  Otherwise you may be asked to purchase your own materials for an individual project. This money must be given to Eleni on the FIRST day of open studio, September 18th, regardless of whether or not you will be working that day.

Hope to see you in the studio!
