Globe Poster in the Washington Post!

Department — KVH @ 4:01 pm, Monday, February 25th, 2013

The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, is holding an exhibition showcasing the history and advertising of the go-go music-scene in Washington DC in the 80’s and 90s. If you’re not familiar with go-go, it was a sub-culture of funk music and has strong ties to the DC music scene.

Documenting the music and advertising of go-go, Pump Me Up showcases posters and photographs from the music scene. Globe @ MICA pulled from it’s collection of original posters from this time and many are included in the exhibition. Additionally, a new poster was printed, this time bypassing the usual day-glo colors in favor of something a little more patriotic.

The exhibition hangs at the Corcoran Gallery. It opened this past weekend and is on display through April 7th.

Here is the extensive writeup in the Washington Post on Globe and Bob Cicero from last week, with an accompanying poster slideshow. If you’re going to be in DC, or want an easy excuse for a trip, definitely check out the show!
