Phillip Zimmerman Artist Lecture

Hello printmakers!

Next Tuesday (February 19th), there will be an artist lecture given by Phillip Zimmerman in Main 010, at 9:30AM. Here are the details: 

The Photography Department and the MICA Book Arts program will welcome a visit from photographer, artist’s bookmaker, designer Philip Zimmermann on Tuesday February 19.  He will give a talk about his career as artist, educator, designer and his more than thirty year commitment to photography and book arts.  His talk will be at 9:30 am in Main 010.

Phil Zimmermann has been making photo-based artists’ books since 1974. He received a BFA from Cornell in 1973 and an MFA in Photographic Studies from The Visual Studies Workshop, SUNY Buffalo, in 1980. He taught at Purchase College, SUNY for 24 years and is a Professor Emeritus there. He now lives in Tucson and is professor at the University of Arizona. He started his press, Spaceheater Editions in 1979. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the College Book Art Association, of which he was a founding member. Among other awards he has received a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Fellowship and two New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowships. His work is in many museums and collections, both private and public, including Harvard’s Fogg Museum, Yale University, The Victoria and Albert Museum, MoMA, The Bilbioteque Nationale, the Getty Museum and SAIC’s Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection and many others.
