Curatorial Print is an exhibition curated by printmakers for printmakers. In previous years, Maryland Institute College of Art’s Print Department has invited guest curators to select work for the exhibition. This year the senior class has taken the reins. We believe that printmaking is about watching, listening, and learning from each other.  This is the last year that students studying print media will work in the Dolphin building which has been the home to everything print for decades.  In striving to emphasize a diverse network of students who are engaged in a myriad of process, each senior has chosen different methods of curation to draw on various aspects of our active print community. Selection took many forms from students contacting seniors and networking, to studio drawers opened and late night visits after hours for a glimpse of new work in production. As the last senior class to graduate from the Dolphin Building, it is important to us to leave our mark on the Print Department as a whole. With Curatorial Print, we hope to create a new tradition that will be carried on by future senior classes in years to come.
