Here are all the important dates, deadlines, and reminders to finish the semester.

Classes end on Friday, May 9th.

All studio supplies are being put away THAT MORNING, Friday May 9th. No studio work will be allowed in the studios after 9AM on Friday, May 9th. No exceptions.

The last day for studio access is Monday, May 12th at Noon. All drawers and lockers must be vacated by this time.*

All non-majors and non-concentrators must vacate all drawers. Tags will be available on every floor by Friday, May 2nd.*

All drawers without proper labels will be emptied.

>>Due to planned renovations in the Silkscreen Studio this summer, ALL DRAWERS MUST BE EMPTIED. This means you.

Book Concentrators must empty their drawers in Fox 418.

There is no summer access to Dolphin, except for students actively enrolled in a CS class.

Printer Hours will continue through Thursday, May 8th on their regular schedule. There will be no printer hours beginning Friday, May 9th.
Extended printer hours are available this coming Saturday, May 3, from Noon to 8 PM.

Everyone attending the department clean-up will be entered in a raffle for prizes. The more help we have, the faster it will go – please attend!

Seniors you will be installing your Thesis Exhibition the week of May 12th. YOU MUST vacate your studios by Sunday, May 18th at 5 PM. All trash must be taken to the 1st floor. The only thing that should remain in your studios is the table and flat files.

*All screens or supplies, or oversized materials that are left behind will be mercilessly tossed or taken over by the department. No exceptions.

Good luck with your finals!
Have a great Summer, everyone!

And now, Hammer to Fall:

Bessma Khalaf exhibition at Gallery Four

Department — KVH @ 1:07 pm, Wednesday, April 16th, 2014

Bessma Khalaf exhibition

Bessma Khalaf, California based artist, has a solo exhibition opening this Saturday at Gallery Four in the H&H Building. From their website:

Balancing mischievousness and malice, Khalaf’s processes of degradation (burning, eating, smashing, etc.) explore the boundaries of landscape, place, and image. Khalaf proposes that beyond the nihilism of destruction, voids and absences possess generative possibilities, either in nature or in her practice. Figuratively and pictorially, voids carve an ambiguous space in the representation of landscape and the documentation of performance. Entrenched in process, Khalaf mixes mysticism, futility, and endurance when pitting herself against the overwhelming vastness of her surroundings, and the largeness of the romantic landscape…

Bessma will be visiting our department as a visiting artist next week, conducting critiques along with Nick Karvounis, former Printmaking faculty.
